We Do Repairs!
We Do Repairs!
“Do you do repairs?” is one of the most frequently asked questions from visitors, second only to “Is Jeff here?” The answer to this question is “Yes, we do repairs!” (As for the most popular question, the answer is a resounding “Maybe” as there's about a 50/50 chance Jeff is here.) From chain repairs to general jewelry maintenance such as retipping prongs, rhodium plating, setting gemstones, pearl restringing, installing new half shanks, ring sizings, and everything in between, our craftsman with 25 years of experience does his best to service your jewelry repair in house. We’ve taken time to carefully answer a few of the most common, repair-related questions we hear at Stall & Kessler’s. We hope these answers give you a great starting place for whether or not you should come see us for a repair service. That said, we always encourage customers to stop by and see us, so we can properly assess your jewelry repair needs. We do our best to be helpful over the phone, but a visit in person allows us to get to know you better and give you the most accurate assessment.
Do I need to make an appointment?
The short answer is “no”. You’re welcome to stop by at your convenience (most people add us to their list of errands, ha!). We may encourage you to stop by on a day that our craftsman is here if we have reason to believe we’ll need his expertise to know about the feasibility of a repair. He’s in the office 5 out of 6 business days/week.
I didn't purchase my item from Stall & Kessler's. Will you still repair it?
Yes! We offer repairs services on all jewelry, regardless of where it was purchased. If the item is able to be repaired, we will be happy to do so.
What does the repair process look like exactly?
First, one of our team members closely examines your jewelry under 10x magnification to assess the state of the piece. Any concerns are then identified and explained to the owner of the jewelry. We can even show you any problem areas up close, zoomed in on a computer screen so you can see for yourself any areas requiring attention.
We then offer quotes for any labor and/or parts involved in the repair along with the estimated timeline for how long you’ll leave your jewelry in our care. We usually schedule about two weeks of less out from the time you drop off your jewelry until it’s picked up. Sometimes it’s even quicker! You’ll then decide if you'd like to move forward with the repair or wait for a better time to do so in the future.
If you decide you'd like to proceed, we'll make detailed notes from our examination conversation with you about the condition of your items, take photos of your jewelry, tuck the pieces safely into job envelopes and put the envelopes in our safe until our craftsman is set to work on your repairs.
The last step when you’re dropping off jewelry is to go over your receipt together. We’ll talk about the notes we’ve made, reiterate the estimated total, confirm your contact information, and have you sign our copy. When you sign our copy, you’re agreeing that you’ve left your jewelry in our care to perform the work we’ve discussed, and that you acknowledge that we complete all repairs at the risk of the customer. After you sign off on it all, you’re good to go (or to browse our selection of diamonds and fine jewelry).
All of these steps usually mean you’re in and out in about 5-10 minutes unless you take time to browse. It’s important to us that we update you as often as needed regarding details of your repair. This may look like notifying you when parts arrive, if Brandon has made observations that we missed during the take in process (we attempt to do this as quickly as possible after drop off), and then when your repair is ready to be picked up! You get to choose if you’d like a call or text. Once your repairs are complete, we’ll let you know and then keep your jewelry in our safe until you stop by to pick it up.
How long do I have to leave my jewelry with you?
This depends on how many repairs are ahead of yours already when you drop your item off, and also the nature of the repair. Repairs that require a piece or part be ordered will need more time to allow time for the parts to arrive.
Why should I choose Stall & Kessler's to repair my jewelry?
Stall & Kessler's will be celebrating our 70th anniversary in business this year. During that time, we've developed close relationships with many in the community who have come to trust us with their priceless jewelry to give them the best options and quality repair work. Our current craftsman has been with us for nearly 25 years, and his experience shows in the work he does. But don't take our word for it! Here are a few reviews from satisfied customers, you can check out more of them on our Google review page:
I knew about Stall & Kessler’s because my parents AND grandparents only come here for their jewelry. They had nothing but good things to say, so I went ahead and inquired with them. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with a jeweler! Even though my now-husband got my engagement ring from a different company, Stall & Kessler’s was happy to resize it, set me up with a gorgeous wedding band, and solder and clean the two after the wedding. They did all of this with incredible patience, ease, and timeliness. Highly recommend!

I went to the store to get a couple pieces of jewelry repaired and had a lovely experience. The staff seemed very knowledgeable. They were very friendly, helpful, and honest about which ones they could and couldn’t repair. The repair job was perfect! I’d definitely go back if I was looking to buy a new piece of jewelry and would recommend them to others as well.

I stopped in Stall & Kessler’s today with my broken bracelet. I had the pleasure of speaking with Kris and inquiring whether my broken bracelet was able to be repaired. Kris had my bracelet repaired in less than ten minutes while I waited. Thank you for your attention to detail and excellent customer service.
