Meet Karianna
Karianna is a Lafayette local who joined the Stall & Kessler’s team in the fall of 2021. Her bubbly personality, administrative giftedness, and wonderful salesmanship are just a few of the reasons we appreciate her. Karianna is the type of person who will make you instantly feel comfortable as you walk through the front door of Stall & Kessler’s. She is always ready and willing to help and is incredibly eager to continue learning. Because of this, she is even scheduled to begin a study of all things related to pearls through online courses with the Gemological Institute of America. Unrelated to work, one of our favorite things about Karianna is her baking ability which we are the regular beneficiaries of. She has kindly taken time to answer a few questions below for you to read. We hope you enjoy learning more about Karianna!
Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Stall & Kessler’s?
I really enjoy seeing other people's creativity, especially when it comes to making new items out of their worn-out, beloved pieces. It's always bittersweet when someone comes in with an heirloom or wedding band from a deceased love one, but are able to make it into something special that they can keep with them in their memory.
I also have a lot of fun making faces at Melissa (our desks are facing each other).
Q: Can you tell us about a particularly memorable customer experience you’ll hold with you in fondness for years to come?
I had the privilege once of helping a very experienced brain surgeon visiting from Massachusetts for a particularly difficult surgery. While he was here, he wanted to take advantage of the opportunity of being away from his wife to go shopping for a pair of earrings to surprise her with. He remembered a pair of earrings that she'd had years and years before but had lost long ago between the slats of a wooden floor. She'd mentioned missing them on a few occasions in recent years, so he had us recreate a new pair to give to her to celebrate their wedding anniversary. He was full of stories, and I just love when someone puts so much thought into surprising someone with a customized gift like that.
Q: What is your favorite kind of jewelry to show off or sell? Why?
Hmm...probably engagement rings. There's usually a nervous/excited energy when someone is shopping for such a special occasion; I love hearing someone talk about the person they love, how they met, how they're going to propose, etc. and helping guide them to find the perfect ring.
Q: Can you tell us more about any jewelry education goals you have?
I love colored stones. It's crazy how there are lots of stones that, to the naked, cannot be told apart, but when closely examined you can see the “fingerprints” that are specific only to certain gemstone families. I'd love to be able to one day be able to take a course on identifying the different colored gemstones.
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Climbing, baking and cooking, reading, yoga, hiking, spending time with my 3 nieces...I'm also planning a little garden this summer with some vegetables and flowers, I'm really looking forward to that!
